GCSE Results Day 2026

Results can be collected from school on Thursday 20th August between 9.00am and 10.30am in the Sports Hall. Please enter the Sports Hall via reception. Members of staff will be available to support pupils and answer any questions they may have about the results themselves or their planned next steps to further study in September 2026.

Results can either be collected in person by the student, emailed to the student’s school email address, or collected by a parent, guardian, or relative. If your child has already completed the Microsoft Form from Class Charts, we already have their instructions. If not and your child will not be collecting their results themselves, please let us know in advance. Your child can email exams@alderchs.uk, stating the name of the relative collecting results for them, or requesting an email on the day with results attached.

Please note, emails with results attached will not be sent out until after 2pm on Thursday 20th August, and anyone collecting results on behalf of students will have to show identification before the results can be released to them.

Education Record app

If your child is using the Education Record app to access their GCSE results these will be released later in the day. If your child experiences technical issues, please be aware that school will not be able to resolve these directly, as the app is managed by the Department for Education. Your child’s official results slip should be used as the confirmed record of their results. If further support is needed, please contact the DfE Education Record support service directly.

Post-Results Services 2026

GCSE Post-Results Services refer to the options available to students who wish to review their GCSE exam results or request a review of their grades if they believe an error has been made. Please see JCQ’s infographic, summarising these services here:

There are typically three types of post-results services available:

Clerical Check: This service allows students to request a check to ensure that all parts of their exam have been marked and that the marks have been correctly totalled. It does not involve re-marking the actual content of the exam, but fees may apply.

Please note that marks can be increased, decreased, or stay the same. It is important to consider this when deciding to appeal as it puts the original grade awarded at risk.

Access to Scripts: With this service, students can request to receive copies of their marked exam papers. It allows them to review their performance. This service does not involve a re-marking of the paper, but fees may apply.

Review of Marking: Also known as a "priority review," this service is available for specific subjects. It involves a senior examiner reviewing the marking of the exam paper(s) to determine if any errors or discrepancies have occurred. The review can lead to a change in the awarded grade if an error is found. Fees may apply.

Please note that marks can be increased, decreased, or stay the same. It is important to consider this when deciding to appeal as it puts the original grade awarded at risk. The deadline for all review of results is 24th September 2026.

Appeals

Stage 1: If you are not satisfied with the results from the review of marking you can make an appeal. Fees will apply. The deadline for this service is within 30 days of the awarding body issuing the outcome of a post-results service.

Stage 2: You can request an appeal hearing if you've received the outcome of a preliminary appeal (stage 1) and you're not happy with it. Your appeal hearing application needs to be received within two weeks of receiving the preliminary stage outcome. Fees will apply.

If you wish to use the post-results services, you can request an electronic form from Miss Young, Exams Officer following results day. She will process the request and send any updates via email. It is important to note that there are specific deadlines and fees associated with each post-results service, which are determined by the examination boards. Please speak to Miss Young for detailed information about the process, deadlines, and associated costs. She can be contacted via email on exams@alderchs.uk, and can organise a phone call with you if needed.
