Alder Community High School proudly celebrates the remarkable achievements of our Class of 2026
Yesterday, our Year 11 students collected their GCSE results, marking the culmination of years of hard work, determination, and personal growth. We couldn't be prouder of what they've accomplished.
Outstanding Results Across the Board
Early indications show that most in subjects are our students are outperforming national averages, demonstrating the exceptional quality of teaching and learning at Alder Community High School. We're particularly delighted to report that our students have achieved more strong passes (grades 5-9) in English and maths than previous years, a continuing pattern year on year, which is a testament to the hard work of our students and staff.
Headteacher, Michelle Critchlow said: "I am immensely proud of our Class of 2026. These results reflect not just academic achievement, but the resilience, determination and character our students have shown throughout their time with us. To see so many subjects outperforming national averages, and our continued improvement in English and Maths strong passes, is testament to the dedication of our staff and the hard work of our young people. Every student has their own unique story of success, and we celebrate each and every one of them as they move forward to exciting new opportunities."
Excellence and Resilience in Equal Measure
Our Class of 2026 has shown us what's truly possible when young people commit to their goals. Some students have excelled beyond all expectations, achieving outstanding grades that reflect their dedication and talent. Others have overcome significant personal barriers, demonstrating the kind of resilience and character that will serve them well throughout their lives.
Every student's journey has been unique, and every achievement, whether academic, personal, or both, deserves celebration. GCSEs are an important stepping stone, but they're just the beginning of the next exciting chapter in our students' educational journeys.
Diverse Pathways to Success
What strikes us most about this year group is the breadth of ambition and the variety of paths our students are choosing to follow:
Many of our students are continuing their academic studies at prestigious local sixth form colleges, including Ashton 6th Form College, Aquinas College, and Loreto College, where they'll pursue A-levels and prepare for university. Others are taking the vocational route, enrolling at Tameside College, The Manchester College or specialist performing arts colleges to gain practical skills and qualifications that will lead directly to rewarding careers. A number of our students have already secured apprenticeships and jobs, where they'll earn whilst developing hands-on skills and real-world experience – a fantastic foundation for their future careers.
Looking Ahead
As our Class of 2026 moves forward to these diverse destinations, they take with them not just their qualifications, but the values, friendships, and experiences they've gained at Alder Community High School.
We wish every single one of them the very best for the future. Whatever path they choose, we know they have the skills, determination, and character to succeed.
Congratulations, Class of 2026 – we're incredibly proud of you all!
