We are delighted to invite our new cohort in for Student Transition Day on Thursday 2nd July.
Children should arrive at school from 8.10am ready for an 8.20am start. Children will be directed to enter school through the side gates to the left of the school building. From here they will assemble on the tennis courts with their year team. Children can also enter the school site via the back gate.
Transition Day will give your child the opportunity to tour the school, meet their form tutor, meet new friends, and most importantly, make them feel confident about starting with us in September. Children should wear their primary school uniform.
You child will be supplied with a free of charge lunch on the day. However, children may bring a packed lunch should they prefer. We recommend all children bring a refillable water bottle. Children may wish to bring a snack for brunch time. Please ensure that any food sent into school does not contain nuts. Please note that children will not be able to purchase additional food/drinks from our school canteen on the day.
At both brunch and lunch time, there will be a variety of activities available to children, including outdoor games, clubs and quiet areas for any children who may need it.
Your child will visit different lessons in school and spend time in their form groups where they will complete activities relating to this year’s theme ‘Community of Belonging’ and our Alder Values.
Children will be dismissed from school at 2.30pm, following a celebrations assembly. Parents and carers may collect children at 2.30pm.
It might be easier to meet children at the back of school near the open ground between Shaw Avenue and Grange Road South. Please ensure that you agree with your child what the arrangements are for the end of the day. Children may also make their own way home, if you prefer.
